SR-22 Insurance by State

SR-22 rules are set state by state: different filing fees, different required durations, different minimum coverage. Thirty-nine states plus DC use the SR-22 form; a few use alternatives like the FR-44. Each guide below is verified against that state's official DMV or insurance department source.

States that don't use SR-22

Delaware, Kentucky, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania don't use the SR-22 form — they have their own proof-of-insurance systems. If your license was suspended in one of these states, check that state's DMV for the correct form rather than shopping for "SR-22 insurance" by name.
